Review import quality
Open Pattern and inspect the quality audit. Braggsight reports excluded rows, duplicate angles, reordered acquisition data, irregular step spacing, negative intensities, and unusually flat signals. It preserves the original imported bytes and their SHA-256 fingerprint.
Compare raw and processed evidence
Use the Raw acquisition and Processed evidence segmented control. Smoothing defaults to zero. Baseline estimation can be disabled, and the processing settings remain with the saved run.
Calibrate peak position
In Calibration, enter a measured standard peak and its expected 2-theta position. Braggsight applies measured minus expected as an explicit zero-shift correction while preserving raw angles.
Enter instrumental broadening
Record the instrument FWHM and radiation wavelength. The app reports observed width and, when resolvable, square-root broadening correction. Scherrer size is withheld when the observed width does not exceed the entered instrument width.
Select and annotate peaks
Open Peak Review to include or exclude each detected peak and add an annotation. The report includes selected peaks only, while the project retains the full analysis.
Use reference screening responsibly
Reference scores compare selected peak positions with a small transparent set and are not phase identification. Confirm conclusions with suitable standards, calibrated instrumentation, full-pattern refinement, and a validated structure database.
Build an evidence bundle
Open Report and choose Build and share evidence bundle. The bundle contains a readable PDF, untouched raw CSV, processed CSV, selected-peaks CSV, and JSON manifest with source hash, context, settings, QC findings, results, and method URLs.
Recovering local data
The workspace uses atomic file writes and keeps one local recovery backup. If the primary document is unreadable, Braggsight attempts to restore the backup. Export important completed records to a destination you control.
Before reporting a problem
Include the Braggsight version, iOS or iPadOS version, device model, import format, screen involved, and exact steps. Share a JSON manifest only after confirming that its specimen and operator fields contain no sensitive information.
